Not Everything.
Exactly One Thing.

The Combat Performance System is a strength and conditioning program — not a fitness program in combat clothes. The distinction matters. Every decision in the design serves a single purpose: making you physically better at your sport.

This Is Not
Bodybuilding or hypertrophy training
This Is
Relative strength and power for sport output
This Is Not
CrossFit-style metcons
This Is
Structured energy system development by zone
This Is Not
A powerlifting program
This Is
Strength that transfers: rate of force development, explosive power, isometric capacity
This Is Not
Martial arts technique instruction
This Is
The physical architecture that makes your technique more dangerous

Most Combat Athletes
Train. Few Develop.

The difference between a combat athlete who trains hard and one who performs at a high level is not only technique. It is physical quality — the ability to generate force faster, sustain output longer, recover between exchanges, and stay structurally intact through a competitive season.

Most combat athletes who lift weights are doing bodybuilding programming with fight-themed names attached. The loading parameters, exercise selection, and periodization have no relationship to what their sport actually demands.

The Combat Performance System is built around what combat sports actually demand: rate of force development, repeated explosive output, isometric strength in uncomfortable positions, aerobic base with repeated sprint capacity — and the fatigue management to train all of it alongside 2–6 technical sessions per week.

Seven Pillars.

Every training decision in the CPS traces back to one or more of these physical quality targets. If an exercise doesn't serve one of these pillars, it is not in the program.

01
Relative Strength
Strength per unit of bodyweight. A heavier fighter is not necessarily a more dangerous one — a stronger one is. Every phase builds a strength foundation that transfers to sport output without unnecessary mass gain.
02
Rate of Force Development
How fast force is expressed matters more than how much force is available. The CPS trains the neuromuscular system to produce maximal output in shorter time windows — which is what combat sports demand at the moment of contact.
03
Aerobic Foundation
The aerobic system is not a secondary quality in combat — it is the recovery engine between every explosive exchange. Without a robust aerobic base, anaerobic capacity degrades rapidly under sustained pressure.
04
Repeated Sprint Ability
The ability to produce near-maximal explosive efforts repeatedly, with incomplete recovery, is the most specific conditioning quality for combat sports. This is trained systematically in every phase.
05
Structural Durability
Neck strength, shoulder health, knee resilience, posterior chain capacity. Combat athletes accumulate structural load at a rate that most programs ignore. The CPS builds the structures that sustain a competitive career.
06
Rotational Power
Every strike, takedown, and throw generates force through rotation. Rotational power development — from hip to shoulder — is a specific programming focus that most S&C programs for fighters address inadequately or not at all.
07
Fatigue Management
The best S&C program for a combat athlete is one that improves performance without degrading it. The CPS is built around session placement, volume management, and recovery architecture that protects technical training quality.

Six Phases.
One System.

The program runs as a 24-week competition cycle, repeated twice per year for two competition peaks. Each phase builds on the last. Cutting phases short produces diminished returns. The system only works when the sequence is followed.

01
4 Weeks · 3 Sessions
GPP Foundation

Aerobic base. Movement quality. Structural capacity. The work that makes every other phase possible. High volume, moderate intensity.

03
4 Weeks · 3–4 Sessions
Power Development

Convert strength to explosive power. Rate of force development. Rotational power. Anaerobic capacity development begins here.

04
6 Weeks · 2–3 Sessions
Fight Camp

Peak power expression. Maintain strength. Sport-specific conditioning with progressive taper. Manage fatigue from elevated technical volume.

06
2–4 Weeks
Recovery Block

Active recovery, structural maintenance, reassessment, and preparation for the next cycle. The phase most athletes skip — which is why they break down.

Your Sport.
Your Modifications.

Every track is programmed within the same annual structure. The core S&C work is universal — the track applies sport-specific priorities, exercise selections, and conditioning demands that match what your sport actually requires.

Grappling
BJJ
Extra grip, neck, hip isometrics, anti-rotation, guard-specific hip strength.
Striking
Muay Thai
Rotational power, hip extension, shoulder health, chin conditioning, repeated sprint capacity.
Mixed
MMA
Integration of all qualities. Highest total demand. Transition conditioning and dual-sport structural load.
Takedown
Wrestling
Explosive hip drive, shooting mechanics, sprawl strength, bridge work, grip endurance.
Striking
Boxing
Hip-to-shoulder power, shoulder durability, footwork conditioning, repeated upper body output.
Throwing
Judo / Grappling
Explosive hip and lat power, grip endurance, rotational throwing strength, structural durability.
Modified
Masters 35+
High output, zero interest in being sidelined. Adjusted volume, CNS protection protocols, and structural durability so you can keep rolling with the 20-year-olds without paying for it all week.
Modified
Female Athletes
Sport-specific force application with integrated Q-angle biomechanical adjustments and aggressive ACL-durability protocols. Performance first, engineered for female physiology.
Overlay
Operator / Veteran
Asymmetric load history, prior structural wear, and 3s eccentric overlays. Slow-velocity collagen protocol for tendon remodeling. Built for tactical athletes re-entering structured training.

After One Cycle.

Force Production — Measurably HigherVertical jump, broad jump, and sprint times tested before and after each phase. You will see the numbers move.
Conditioning — Sustained Through Later RoundsThe aerobic foundation built in Phase 1 determines how fast you recover between exchanges in Round 3. Athletes who build it first outwork opponents who don't.
Structure — Intact Through a Competitive SeasonNeck, shoulder, knee, and posterior chain durability work reduces the injury rate that ends competitive seasons prematurely.
Grip — A Weapon, Not a LimiterBJJ and grappling athletes often lose exchanges when grip fails. The CPS programs grip as a primary physical quality, not an afterthought.
Body Composition — Without the Focus on ItAthletes who complete a full cycle almost universally report improved body composition — because concurrent training with adequate protein creates it as a byproduct, not a primary goal.
Recovery — Quantified and ManagedThe daily readiness system tells you when to push and when to protect. Most athletes never have this — they train hard until they break.

Who This Is Not For.

The CPS is built for intermediate-to-advanced competitive combat athletes. If you are new to strength training or new to your sport, start with the Reconstruction Foundation first — this system assumes you can barbell squat and deadlift with sound mechanics, perform a set of pull-ups, and have a minimum 6-month base of technical training in your sport.

If you have an active structural injury — lower back, shoulder, knee — address that first with a targeted protocol before loading this system on top of it. An unmanaged injury running through a high-load S&C program compounds the problem. Fix the structure, then build performance on top of it.

If you are unsure, the free OCA Assessment identifies exactly where your system is and which program addresses it first.
